Can previous years' participants take part in the Aliante competition?
Yes, certainly, even past winners. There are no restrictions.
Can only one team from each school register?
No. An unlimited number of teams can register from each school, as long as the Competition Rules are followed.
Can members of one team be from different schools?
Yes, it is not a problem. You just have to state both schools in the registration form.
I would like to know if the results of the first round are taken into account in the following rounds.
Results from the first round are not taken into account in the second round or further. Teams that answer at least 15 questions correctly will qualify for the second round and that is it.
How many teams pass to the 2nd round from each country?
The number is not limited. Any team with at least 15 correct answers passes to the 2nd round.
How many teams pass to the finals from each country?
The number is limited and it is based on number of teams that submit correct 2nd round answers. If at least one team provides correct answers, then at least one team passes to the finals. The maximum number of teams in the finals from one country is 6.
Do all teams have to have substitute team members?
A substitute member is not required, but it is useful in case one team member cannot participate, for any reason, in the finals. It has proved useful in the past to have a substitute member.
Can I register a substitute member after the end of the registration period?
No, you cannot.
Can I change a team member after the end of registration period?
No, you cannot. In fact, you cannot change a team member during the registration period either. If you’d like to do that, please contact the project coordinator (in English) at aliante@jagello.org. After the registration period, no changes are possible.
Do I need to have a passport when I register?
No. But all finalists must have a valid travel document that allows them to travel to the country that hosts the finals. Also all winners need a valid travel document to go the Winners’ Trip (a personal ID or a passport).
I have not received an e-mail with team number and password after registration, where is the problem?
The most common cause of this problem is a wrong e-mail address stated in the registration form, so double check it before submitting. If you are sure, your address was correct and still haven’t received a message in an hour, please contact (in English) the project coordinator at aliante@jagello.org.

I am a permanent resident in the Czech Republic, but my citizenship is Vietnamese. Can I take part in the competition?
Yes, foreigners can also take part in the competition, if they have a permanent residency in one of participating countries and the Competition Rules are followed.
