The economic crisis put the world into chaos and many enterprises did not survive till these days. Fortunately, Aliante survived and the year of 2010 brings the tenth edition of this unique international competition.
There is no similar thing in the world like Aliante – with its concept and international extension. It is focused on improvement of knowledge about the North Atlantic Treaty, NATO, security issues and international relations. So, all participants get their prize - extend their knowledge in the competition areas. Contestants also meet people with similar interests from other countries and gain contacts that can be useful in further studies or even during a professional career.
But it is not only this, what attracts several thousands participants every year. It is also a superb trip for Aliante winners that you just can't get at a travel agency. Aliante 2007 winners traveled through huge parts of the USA, in 2008 the Winners’ Trip lead them to scenic Norway and last year to the Czech Republic. This year winners will go again to Central Europe. As the very first winners of Aliante in 2001, they will visit Poland.
Poland offers a very great deal – both natural and cultural tourist destinations and many elite units of the armed forces with up-to-date equipment. But winners can, as usual, again look forward to something really special.
Of course, to get there will not be easy. Students have to succeed in challenging national and international competition, prove their knowledge, and ability to cooperate under difficult conditions. As in previous years, there will be two knowledge-based rounds. The best from them proceed to the international final where their physical and mental strength will be tested. The final will be for the first time held in NATO’s non-member country – in Georgia, in the middle of the Caucasus Mountains, at the Sachkhere Mountain Training School.
There are not two same editions of Aliante and this time, it will be also different. Aliante 2010 is organized in the Czech Republic, Georgia, Hungary, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and the United Kingdom, after a two-year break the Netherlands rejoins and Montenegro will participate for the first time. In addition, Aliante 2010 will once again host a separate competition in the Ukraine.
