Can previous years' participants take part in the Aliante 2010 competition?
Yes, certainly, even past winners. There are no restrictions.
Can only one team from each school register?
No. An unlimited number of teams can register from each school, as long as the "Competition Rules" are followed.
I would like to know if the results of the first round are taken into account in the following rounds, or whether we have to answer at least 15 questions correctly in order to qualify further?
Correct answers from the first round are not taken into account in the second round. Teams that answer at least 15 questions correctly will qualify for the second round. Answers from the first round have no effect on the rest of competition.
Do all teams have to have backup team members?
A backup member is not compulsory, but it is useful in case one team member isn't available for any reason, to take part. For example: unavailable for the final. It has proved useful in the past to have a backup member.
Can I register a backup member after the end of the registration period?
No, you cannot.
Do I need to have a passport when I register?
No. But all finalists must have either a valid passport or personal ID card.
If teams are composed of students from a number of schools can they register for the competition?
Yes, it is possible. However, team members, including backup members, must follow the "Competition Rules".
I am experiencing difficulty with the registration process. What should I do?
Please contact (in English) the project co-ordinator at aliante2010@jagello.org.
I am a permanent resident in the Czech Republic but my citizenship is Vietnamese. Can I take part in the Aliante 2010 competition?
Unfortunately, it is not possible. Only students who have citizenship of the Czech Republic, Georgia, Hungary, Lithuania, Latvia, Montenegro, the Netherlands, Poland, Slovakia and the United Kingdom can take part in the Aliante 2010 competition. In the case of foreigners permanently residing in the countries listed above, they must have citizenship of a NATO member country.
